This position is located at the Pine Ridge Service Unit in Pine Ridge, SD. The purpose of this position is to function as Clinical Psychologist in the Emergency Department. The Clinical Psychologist provides comprehensive mental health services via telehealth to pediatric, adolescent, adult and elderly patients in the Emergency Department.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: experience diagnosing and treating a full range of psychiatric disorders for adult and children, providing initial treatment of acute psychiatric conditions, formulating and implementing a plan of care, providing various treatment modalities; coordinating referrals to other appropriate facilities and monitoring the aftercare plan; making appropriate referrals to medical providers when psychotropic medication should be considered; monitoring patients for the effectiveness of psychotropic medications.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
Incumbent must possess an active, current, unrestricted state license as Clinical Psychologist.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Responsibilities:
- The Clinical Psychologist carries full professional responsibility for cases representing a wide range of psychosocial, cultural and environmental problems particular to the American Indian Population, the work is complex and changes continuously, depending on the situation, clients' risk and Emergency Department needs. Provides intensive clinical practices consisting of professional judgement and the ability to use a wide range of psychological skills and diagnosis as they affect findings of attitudes and interests.
- Routine duties shall include providing behavioral health crisis intervention (e.g. suicidal, psychotic, homicidal, anxiety attacks) and related mental health services to individuals eligible to services provided by the IHS in the Emergency Department. Provides expert consultation to the Emergency Department Physicians regarding psychological emergencies and level of risk.
- Completes psychological data concerning Emergency Department suicidal ideation, attempts, and psychiatric transfer to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
