This position is located at the Quentin N Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility in Belcourt, ND and is under the direct supervision of the Human Services Program Director. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, improving and implementing a comprehensive Human Service program.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):

Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS-9.

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: provide individual or group counseling; collaborate with other health professionals to assess client needs; refer patients to community resources; coordinate care with expert diagnostic and treatment consultation to medical providers; assess in-patient needs and patient discharge planning; provide therapy to all age groups utilizing a variety of accepted treatment techniques; develop treatment plans; provide interventions surrounding drug, alcohol, co-occurring disorders, and crisis intervention to potentially life-threatening emergencies. OR, successfully completed 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree.

Selective Placement Factor: Must possess a current, unrestricted license from any U.S. State as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW).

Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only)
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and evaluates patients using a patient/family-centered approach for needs such as, discharge planning/coordination, long-term care placement, and other psychological concerns related to health care.
  • Develops intervention based on above need assessment and exercises mature professional judgment in consultation with the supervisory social worker in providing problem-focused, culturally appropriate care.
  • Participates and when appropriate takes a leadership role in assessing community human service needs. Works with community members and human resources providers to develop approaches to addressing the needs.
