Participates in the delivery of preventive dental health services to residents served by Maniilaq. Works with potentially hazardous equipment and materials, such as x-ray equipment, autoclaves, and sharp instruments. Work is done both in Kotzebue and in the villages. Reports directly to the Dental Clinic Manager. Qualifications: Must possess Alaska license to practice dental hygiene or obtain license within six months from date of hire, plus two (2) years of clinical and/or public health education experience. Must be willing and able to travel in small airplanes and lift up to 40 pounds of luggage. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures.
