Assistant Traffic Signal Coordinator
Performs a variety of functions pertaining to traffic signal design, installation, operations, timing, and maintenance. This is a technical position, working under the general direction of the County Traffic Engineer.
Education/Experience:
High School / GED supplemented by a minimum of two years of related working experience in the design and operation of traffic signals and roadway lighting or Associates degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Computer Programming.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge and use of traffic signal control equipment.
Knowledge and use of traffic signal timing concepts, procedures and software.
Knowledge of traffic signal and roadway lighting design standards and specifications.
Knowledge and use of personal computers.
Knowledge and use of spreadsheet, word processing, and database software.
Ability to update and query traffic division assets in ArcMap or ArcPro software.
Ability to read and decipher engineering plans and drawings.
Ability to prepare engineering plans for the modification or rehabilitation of traffic signals.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other engineers, design professionals, outside agencies, and the public.
Ability to prepare traffic signal timing plans with Synchro software.
Ability to operate central traffic signal management system software and CCTV cameras.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good problem-solving skills.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work is performed inside in an office environment. Periodic site visits are required which will involve working outdoors with exposure to heat, dust, and inclement weather conditions.
