Direct Care StaffCrisis CenterRelief 12 hour shifts* Tuscaloosa, AL Competencies : Must be able to work effectively in a group situation.

Must be able to work within the organization to serve the needs of clients.Excellent understanding of training methods used in working with individualswith a mental illness and / or a substance use disorder required.

Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities : Provide transportation for clients as needed.

Work assigned shifts, weekends, holidays, and overnight as scheduled.Perform observation of clients as directed by your supervisor.

Assist in client education of symptoms and illness management as directed bysupervisor.Gain certification in the management of disruptive behaviors andde-escalation techniques.

Assist as needed in providing meals to clients.Assist as needed in general cleaning at the Crisis Center.Document all clinical notes in accordance with agency polices and within 24hours.

Conduct client trainings as assigned by supervisor.Maintain communication and awareness of current events by reading memos,e-mails, bulletin boards, and communication logs.

Work independently and / or with teams to complete assigned tasks accuratelyand in a timely manner with minimum supervision.

Support Organizational Code of Conduct, Standards Compliance, HIPAA andSecurity Programs by ensuring job tasks are performed in a legal and ethicalmanner, assessing the work area for non-compliance and notifying the supervisor,manager, Executive Director or designee as appropriate, and maintaining trainingrequirements and understanding that training is a required condition ofemployment.

Maintain the confidential nature of all client and Organization relatedactivities by not divulging information outside the facility, discussinginformation within the facility on a need-to-know basis, acknowledging policyannually by signing confidentiality statement, and by referring media andgeneral inquiries to the Executive Director.

Adhere to attendance and punctuality policy by allowing adequate time toarrive, clock-in and assume responsibilities at designated time, adhering tomeal and break times and making timely requests for annual leave and reportingthe need for sick leave in accordance with policy.

Comply with all standards related to safety and health by maintainingcurrent TB Test, CPR / First Aid, CPI, and by reporting infections and on-the-jobinjuries in accordance with policy.

Identify opportunities for improving the quality of services provided by thedepartment and the organization.All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manageror Crisis Center Director.

Minimum Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent.Experience working with clients with mental illness and / or developmentaldisabilities preferred.

One (1) year experience in a mental health setting preferred.Current driver's license and good driving record as defined by IndianRivers' policy.

Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.* Working Conditions, HIPAA and Other GuidelinesJob Specifications : To perform this job successfully, an individual must beable to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

HIPAA : Must be knowledgeable of and abide by HIPAA regulations with regard toprotected health information as defined by HIPAA and IRBH.

Minimally accessesverbal, written, and / or electronic PHI, usually incidentally to an approved useand / or disclosure as pertains to client's financial, demographic, and / orclinical data.

Working Conditions : Works in residential facilities; may require long hours.Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate andinteract with other employees, clients and the public through the use of thetelephone and personal contact.

Physical capability to effectively use andoperate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to,computer, copier, multi-line phone and fax machine.

Must be able to lift fifty(50) pounds and negotiate several sets of stairs in an eight (8) hour shift.Some risk involved in the event of aggressive / out-of-control clients.

Mustpossess a valid Alabama driver's license.Physical Requirements : The Physical Requirements described herein arerepresentative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully performthe primary functions of this job.
