Description

Provides Quality Engineering services within the Quality Group. Assists the Quality Manager in maintaining TS16949 registration and in developing, documenting, and maintaining future management systems. Facilitates quality relationships with customers. Supervises the preparation of PPAP documentation. Facilitates the development of countermeasures for customer non-conformances (including meeting suspense dates for temporary and permanent countermeasures per procedures). Facilitates the development of countermeasures for non-conformances found outside the responsible process.  Performs follow-up verification of countermeasures that are taken in response to customer and in-process (found outside the responsible process) non-conformances.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assists the Quality Manager in developing and attaining goals and objectives and maintaining ISO9001/IATF16949 Registration.
  2. Maintains the Nonconformance System for nonconformances found by a customer or in-house but outside the responsible process; informs responsible management early each day of customer and in-process non-conformances experienced the previous working day.
  3. Performs other tasks and duties as necessary and as appropriate including the preparation of visual aids and matters pertaining to Machine Condition Control and Manufacturing Floor Support.
  4. Advises the Quality Manager of all nonconformities and exceptions including where improvement is needed.
  5. Tours the plant daily to monitor nonconformance activity.
  6. Coordinates Quality Engineering activities with the needs of Sales, PC, Purchasing, and all other groups/departments.
  7. Contacts/visits customers at the direction of the Quality Manager or when the Quality Manager is unavailable.
  8. Prepares/maintains Inspection Standards, and all other matters, including PPAP, relating to the introduction of new parts.
  9. Maintains, or directs the maintenance and updating, of the quality internal and external metrics databases.
  10. Supervises Document and Forms Control activities.
  11. Maintains the Visual Aid Display Boards for which Quality has responsibility (both the main and nonconformance boards in the hallway and the Quality Plans and PFMEA’s boards in the laboratory).
  12. Analyzes quality data and works to support quality improvement in the manufacturing departments.
  13. Provides assistance with problem solving, PDCA Methodology, and 5-why analysis to determine root cause and countermeasure implementation.
  14. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications


Education & Training

  • HS Diploma required.   Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years in a quality environment with a technical/engineered product.  Automotive Industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to read customer/supplier/internal prints.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in the operations system – Planning, Logistics, Sales, Quality, HR, IT, Engineering, Maintenance, Accounting – to deliver quality needs and meet business objectives.
  • Proven project management skills and developed ability to organize, manage, and control a variety of technical and manufacturing projects and Continuous Improvement.
  • Experiencecoordinating activities involgving AIAG Core Tools.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Testing Methodologies. 
  • Ability to inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Experience developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.

  • Regular walking and standing.
  • Minimal bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing and reaching
  • Lifting 10-30 lbs.
  • Carry up to 5 lbs. approximately 25 feet.
  • Push/Pull 1-10 lbs. of force 5 feet.
