Job Specification
Minimum Education Required: Graduate from an Anesthesia Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education programs preferred.
Minimum Experience Required: Clinical patient care experience in assisting Anesthesia providers with positioning of patients, set up of specialized equipment specific to anesthesia and the ability to assist licensed providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of various types of equipment required for the delivery of anesthesia care. Experience with inventory management; ordering and stocking supplies preferred.
Licensure/Certification Required: Certification as an Anesthesia Technologist preferred. Must be BLS certified required (or obtain within one month of hire).
Skills required (if applicable): Basic computer skills; ability to communicate effectively; ability to work in a fast paced environment; ability to prioritize work and adapt to change quickly. Must be able to work effectively as a team player.
Job Summary: The Anesthesia Technician job responsibilities include equipment maintenance and servicing such as cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, calibrating, testing and troubleshooting equipment. Other duties include recording inspections and maintenance of equipment, restocking the anesthesia storeroom, ordering of all non-controlled medications for the department, arterial line assembly, anesthesia machine checks, knowledge of the locations of all emergency equipment, specialty trays and medications, Identifies age-specific supplies and equipment for use in patient care and assist with regional anesthesia nerve blocks and fiber optic intubations.
