Job Summary/Basic Function

The UMS student assistants shall report to the Director of the Indiana State University (ISU) Center of Unmanned Systems (UMS). They will be responsible for helping to maintain and run the UMS lab room TC 005 so to develop a safety responsible ISU UMS culture. Responsibilities include identifying, recording, registering, updating, and maintaining the unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned water vehicles, and unmanned ground vehicles associated with the ISU Center of Unmanned Systems Lab. The lab technicians shall be a high standing ISU student in one of the following departments: aviation technology, unmanned systems program, or the engineering technology department.

ISU Student UMS Lab Job Description:
The UMS student workers shall report to the Director of the Indiana State University (ISU) Center of Unmanned Systems (UMS). They will be responsible for helping to maintain and run the UMS lab room TC 005 so to develop a safety responsible ISU UMS culture. Responsibilities include identifying, recording, registering, updating, and maintaining the unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned water vehicles, and unmanned ground vehicles associated with the ISU Center of Unmanned Systems Lab. The lab technicians shall be a high standing ISU student in one of the following departments: aviation technology, unmanned systems program, or the engineering technology department. Students must hold a FAA Part 107 remote pilot license, be active in registered student organization, show a passion for all things unmanned, have knowledge in UMS mechanics, autopilot systems, and be qualified to train new remote pilots in various UMS equipment and commercial applications. Other responsibilities include knowledge in using analytical photogrammetry software systems, instructing students in drone simulator usage, using Measure Ground Control internet based software program to help manage students UAS flights across myriad commercial applications. Some of these would include agriculture uses, infrastructure inspection, search and rescue, and cargo delivery.

NCAA Guidelines

All employees and staff of ISU are bound by all NCAA, Missouri Valley Conference and institutional rules and regulations pertaining to intercollegiate athletics and must conduct themselves in accordance therewith. Failure to abide by this term of employment shall constitute unethical conduct as defined by the NCAA and may result in immediate suspension and/or termination of the employment relationship with ISU.
