Corporate Quality Assurance Manager

Corporate Quality Assurance Manager is to plan, develop and implement techniques, processes and procedures for controlling the desired level of food safety and quality for all goods supplied by all plants. The Corporate Quality Assurance Manager is also responsible for coordinating with production, packaging, engineering, warehouse, suppliers and customers to resolve food safety and/or quality problems and to ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, SQF and other relevant authorities and standards.

Experience Requirements: SQF experience required with SQF practitioner certification a plus (must be willing to assume the practitioner role for the facility and certify if necessary). HACCP certification is required. Food industry manufacturing experience is also required. Multiple plant responsibility.

Education Requirements: Four-year BS or BA degree. Master's degree a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

Quality Processes and Production Support

· Establish and monitor production standards, examining samples of raw product or directing testing during processing to ensure finished products are of prescribed safety and quality.

· Formulate sampling procedures and designs and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting food safety, quality and reliability data. Utilize statistical data techniques to monitor production performance.

· Establish and monitor packaging, shipping and warehousing standards.

· Work with management and customers to establish common testing and procedures.

· Manage outside lab relations and log all results.

· Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance and other operational reports to detect and resolve production problems.

· Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organizational charts and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities as they relate to quality.

· Responsible for product labeling compliance and for keeping product specifications current.

· Plan, promote and organize training activities related to food safety and quality.

· Train facility management in the quality assurance theory and practice, processes and procedures.

· Investigate customer concerns or complaints about food safety and/or quality. Reduce risk through effective system design, implementation and maintenance.

· Ensure continuous improvement with suppliers and ingredients, packaging, work-in-process (WIP), finished product and equipment.

· Take necessary steps to control potentially unsafe or poor-quality product.

· Monitor the facility to ensure effectiveness of company programs and policies.

Food Safety Program Responsibilities

  • Maintain an adequate Food Safety Program as described by the SQF Code and the Codex Alimentarius.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating HACCP plans and programs.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all food safety prerequisite programs and procedures.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all other food safety programs and procedures.

SQF Practitioner responsibilities

a. Have an understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code: Food Manufacturing and the requirements to implement and maintain an SQF System relevant to the site's scope of certification

b. Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF System;

c. Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System; and

d. Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
