RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Summary: Research assistant (RA) will provide support to faculty investigators for research studies in the area of cardiovascular disease, particularly heart failure. Main research activities include interviewing research participants with paper-pencil based and computer-based neuropsychological tests, administering health questionnaires, educating participants about how to use the virtual reality program to improve their attention function.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
· Participate in research team meetings
· Drive to participants’ home or other agreed place (e.g., IU hospital) for data collection and intervention delivery
· Explain the study procedures to study participants
· Prepare the intervention device (e.g., virtual reality headset) for intervention activities
· Collect/gather data and information (e.g., downloading data from the virtual reality headset)
· Making telephone calls to check in study participants’ progress on the interventions
· Conduct data entry into REDCap
· Communicate participants’ progress with the research team using tracking documents on SharePoint/OneDrive, which is a shared cloud for research
· Collect and deliver study blood samples to the designated facility for storage and analysis
Expected skills / abilities;
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to communicate fluently in English, written and verbal
· Ability to learn new technologies quickly
· Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint
· Ability to work with multidisciplinary team to achieve study objectives
· Professionalism
· Accountability
Preferred skills;
· Strong communication and technical skills (MS Word, Excel, or Virtual reality device such as Oculus)
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 12 per week
