The 189 room Biddle Hotel, located within the Indiana Memorial Union, is the largest hotel in Bloomington, Indiana. At the Biddle Hotel, guests enjoy upscale accommodations and first-rate amenities while only being steps away from some of Bloomington's best dining, shopping, arts and entertainment, and nightlife. Consistently rated as one of the top hotel in service and accommodations on many travel reputation sites, the Biddle is looking for service minded individuals to join our team.
Job Summary
This is a custodial position working in the housekeeping department.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Performs tasks related to the cleanliness and upkeep of IU Hotel guest rooms and guest spaces
- Cleans hotel rooms, corridors, and stairways
- Performs vacuuming, trash compacting, and light maintenance ( i.e. plunging sinks and toilets)
- Sorts and delivers linen and removes trash from rooms and building
- Moves furniture, mattresses, box springs, cases of supplies, televisions, rollaway beds, and cribs
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Some housekeeping, custodial, or related field experience
SKILLS
Required
- Proficient communication skills
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism
- Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills
- Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
- Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Highly thorough and dependable
Preferred
- Ability to communicate via radio
- Ability to work with strong cleaners and disinfectants to clean areas of the IU the Hotel
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
Working Conditions / Demands
This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs, bend, and crouch. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
$13.10 per hour
Work Hours
Department hours are scheduled from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Sunday.
Work hours depend on hotel occupancy but do require weekends and some holidays.
