Data Technician

Summary of Position: The data technician acquires and analyzes relevant administrative and educational performance data to provide useful and appropriate information for decision makers. They manage software systems as required, prepare reports and analysis as needed, provide training assistance to CAPS personnel related to software systems and data analysis program reviews, and research. The Data Technician assists CAPS academic and support units along with N&G leadership in the management of integrated educational delivery, data analysis, and management systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains many Power Bi dashboards that provide timely data to many stakeholders
• Coordinates and manages customized surveys upon request. Reporting to deans, directors, and other appropriate personnel
• Analyzes data from appropriate sources such as Colleague, using software systems such as MS Word, and Excel - (Essential)
• Maintains confidentiality of information from various surveys and reports - (Essential)
• Supervises student worker(s) as needed - (Occasional)
• Assists with special projects such as academic research, faculty development, and training - (Essential)

Education

Associates' degree required, bachelor degree preferred in business, technology, or related field

Experience

Experience with analyzing and managing data particularly in higher education environments
Demonstrated effective work habits such as punctuality, commitment to excellence, collegiality, and positive attitude
Sensitivity for managing confidential information
Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently
Higher education experience preferred

Required Skills

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities in a fast-paced, multi-task work environment
Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to attend to details with a high level of accuracy
