JOB SUMMARY: The Health Sciences Teacher will be responsible for teaching Health Science in a high school setting.


QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty effectively. Prefer experience teaching in a high school or career center setting.


License/Certification:
Must hold a CTE Health Occupations license or be eligible for a Workplace Specialist License in any CTE Health Science area.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
: Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provide detailed and regular feedback to parents on student achievement and concerns

2. Attend and support advisory committees for Health Science pathways

3. Assist with preparing and maintaining equipment and resources required to meet the objectives of the curriculum

4. Prepare and deliver engaging lessons that include theory, practical skill development, and student assessment.

5. Facilitate learning experiences for students to expose them to different careers in health science

6. Complete all data maintenance and entry required for student grades, attendance, and discipline

7. Create and maintain a positive learning environment for students.

8. Plan, teach, and assess student achievement in Health Sciences.

9. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities for adults. The Health Science Education I Teacher is also expected to carry out supervisory responsibilities related to monitoring student behavior and activities both in and out of classroom activities during the assigned working day and on field trips.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write informative correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Student Data software (ESchool), and electronic communication systems.


REASONING ABILITY
: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in a variety of situations.
