The Subcontracts Project Manager will be responsible for the operational and personnel management of a portfolio of multiple subcontract efforts. The ideal candidate: is a thoughtful and effective communicator; is driven, dynamic, and flexible, with a desire to make a positive impact on business operations; promotes a one-team approach and takes ownership and initiative with respect to customer outcomes and priorities; possesses strong skills in problem solving, planning, identifying requirements, and defining/refining internal processes while always striving for continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively participate in recruiting, hiring, assigning, and managing project participants and resources, and delivering project status reports and deliverables on schedule within projected budgets to various prime contractors
- Establish and maintain Prime/Subk relationships to manage customer expectations and project scopes from order through delivery, ensuring the financial and technical viability/quality of the projects at all times
- Execute Quarterly Program Reviews and CSAT sessions to keep Indigo IT and prime contractor upper management informed regarding program status and any technical, cost, schedule or administrative problems within portfolio
- Establish, maintain and promote successful, long-term customer relationships that promote Indigo IT
- Supervise direct and indirect technical staff that may be geographically dispersed due to telework mandates
- Perform day-to-day administrative functions such as timesheet approvals, performance reviews, and team/customer meetings, as well as, development of project budget and estimation input as tasked by prime contractors
- Establish and maintain a positive and technical culture focused on mission delivery through regular conduct of team meetings/sessions that build camaraderie and keep the teams connected to Indigo IT
- Assist the PMO with development and/or revision of procedures and guidelines for the daily operations of Indigo IT’s sub-project(s)
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Personnel leadership and management skills for large and small teams
- Experience using project management tools for tracking and reporting metrics and identifying opportunities for process improvement
- Programmatic experience managing technical efforts using industry-standard methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, etc.,)
- Collaboration experience working with senior management to find solutions for customers and leading teams to implement these solutions
- Technical expertise in IT Infrastructure, Software Development, Systems/Cloud Engineering, Network Security, or related field
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and influence across diverse audiences
- Ability to work with and address the specific needs of project teams while maintaining a “big picture” vision of the end customer and prime organization’s goals/mission
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in Business or Project Management required
- 6-10 years of experience in information technology, with at least 4 years managing information technology contract performance
- PMI PMP or comparable project management certification required
- Experience managing labor hour-type contracts (e.g. T&M, Cost Plus) desired
- Experience managing a contract as a subcontractor
