About Hardware Express:

We are a local business with three generations of family working together alongside our fellow employees, serving the communities in which we live. We began in 2001, new to the hardware industry, with two stores totaling 12,000 square feet; one in Redding and one in Anderson. We added a third 6,000 square foot store in Shasta Lake that same year. Since then, we have tripled our square footage of retail space in the Greater Redding market and expanded into Oregon. We own and operate a 20,000 square foot store in Coos Bay near the beautiful southern Oregon coast.

At our Ace Hardware stores, we are dedicated to being people oriented. We have many responsibilities, but the most important responsibility is to provide the very best customer service possible.

Job Description Summary: Assists retail store manager in all aspects necessary for selling specific, related, or general lines of merchandise by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties.
· Formulates pricing policies on merchandise according to requirements for profitability of store operations.
· Coordinates sales promotion activities and prepares, or directs workers preparing, merchandise displays and advertising copy.
· Supervises employees engaged in sales work, taking of inventories, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, or preparing daily record of transactions, or performs work of subordinates, as needed.
· Orders merchandise or prepares purchase orders to replenish merchandise on hand.
· Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
· Answers customer's complaints or inquiries.
· Locks and secures store.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages,
area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram
form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word word processing software; Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software; Microsoft Outlook for email and contact management; Internet Explorer internet software; Activant Eagle for Windows inventory and order processing software; and Time Clocks Plus time and attendance software.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 15-20 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities includes assistance with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
