What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemist position at Industrial Automation?

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chemist develops new ink products in support of customer application requirements in contact and non-contact printing technologies. This position provides technical support for ink manufacturing processes, for specific customer application issues as well as problem solving for potential customer problems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops new ink products for specific applications.
  • Conducts testing to verify ink formulas meet application requirements.
  • Solves related manufacturing problems and support the manufacturing function.
  • Communicates with customers, both internal and external, to ensure overall satisfaction and potential problem solving.
  • Analyzes and suggests methods to reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Provides status reports on project status with regards to ink development.
  • Maintains up-to-date lab notebooks detailing specific project work.
  • Completes necessary analysis in a timely fashion, focusing on practical research that will drive commercial outcomes for the company.
  • Communicates progress and results with team members and projects in a timely fashion.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field
  • 1 years of previous chemist experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
