POSITION SUMMARY

The Supervisor - Purchasing/Procurement coordinates and supervises the team that purchases and manages the inventory for a wide variety of products for sale and used across the business. Works with vendors to secure the best possible terms, pricing and delivery schedule. Suitable candidates will have 2 years experience with SAP(or comparable ERP system).


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides work direction to Purchasing/Procurement (PnP) resources daily to increase warehouse and purchasing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborates on projects, tracks data and produces reports.
  • Assists in tracking Purchasing/Procurement schedules as well escalating staffing needs to Manager.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, supplier consolidation, leveraged purchasing opportunities, and supplier interaction.
  • Creates and enters purchase orders and/or sales orders entries as necessary to support production orders within SAP.
  • Acts as main contact for project management and customer service for expediting orders. Coordinates changes with project management and service.
  • Responsible for managing the receiving and shipping of products that are inventoried at our facility as well as performing inventory control functions covering cycle counting, stock valuations, and physical inventory.
  • Collaborates with Accounting Department when processing orders.
  • Documents material movements and adheres to inventory control procedures.
  • Reports inventory discrepancies and shortage concerns to manager.
  • Assists with selection, negotiation, and monitoring of vendors to ensure needs are being accurately met.
  • Maintains inventories with vendors to support production, and implements just-in-time material policies wherever feasible on all purchased goods.
  • Manages inventory to achieve division targets for turnover ratios.
  • Identifies alternate sources and maintains a formal sourcing plan to ensure vendors are not sole sourced.
  • Coordinates material substitutions with vendors and follows up with engineering when material shortages or supply chain issues arise.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • 5 of previous purchasing or warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years in a leadership/supervisory role.
  • Occasional local travel may be required.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Ability to operate Fork-Truck preferred.
  • Analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management & planning skills.
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear, and see.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fork-truck traffic, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment may be high.
