Position Summary
Mechanic/Field Service Technician for a Denver based EASA shop, expected to service various electro-mechanical equipment within many different industries. To accomplish these services travel will be necessary at times. Other job duties may be assigned that are not included in this Job Description.
Applicant must be able to build and maintain customer loyalty by responding quickly and efficiently to customer issues with the most knowledgeable and highest quality service possible. Applicant must possess the proper judgment to escalate procedures when necessary to assure customer’s needs are met effectively while at the same time maintaining the highest quality workmanship standards. Applicant must be able to communicate relevant information to customers regarding their systems in an effective manner to influence and drive customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Read job cards to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, estimate, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability.
Test electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various testing methods (ac or dc).
Disassemble electro-mechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration, and condition.
Clean electro-mechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps, including but not limited to: parts washers/steamers, caustic tanks, media blast cabinet etc.
Measure for or note proper replacement parts. Correctly requisition needed items from supervisor.
Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies, including but not limited to: bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, tachometers, fans, end shields, etc.
Retest reassembled electro-mechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
Operate specialized repair and testing equipment and other equipment as needed.
Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection).
Lift, tighten, adjust, and/or secure heavy objects to perform work duties.
Knowledge of overhead lifting/rigging.
Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
Assist other mechanics or other shop personnel in skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications
Preferred minimum level of education: High School Diploma.
Trade schools.
Manufacturer’s schools/training.
Basic mechanical aptitude, minimum 5 years’ experience with one or more of the following areas of knowledge.
Laser shaft alignment of rotating equipment of various sizes.
Shop and field dynamic balancing of rotating equipment.
Welding and fabrication.
Machine tools; lathe, milling machines, drill presses, etc.
Ability to understand, perform and retain various skill-related training and operational and safety procedures asdemonstrated by supervisor.
Ability to work well with others in a team effort.
Applicant must provide basic set of tools required for the work to be performed.
Physical Demands
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
Able to lift 75lbs from floor to waist with possible repetition.
Able to lift 50lbs from shoulder to overhead.
Able to work with both arms above head for minimum of 5 minutes Able to carry 50lbs for a distance of 25 feet.
Able to push or pull 125lbs for a distance of 500 feet.
Able to climb stairs and ladders.
Able to carry 30lbs while climbing stairs or a ladder.
Able to grip and operate hand tools, powers tools and safety equipment, such as chain falls.
Able to lift legs and step over obstacles up to 19 inches above the ground.
Able to perform work while in varying physical positions, such as lying on side, in a kneeling position, while standing on a ladder and in confined spaces.
Able to access rooftop units and work at heights and in some cases tight or enclosed spaces.
Able to wear a respirator if working environments have exposure to potentially harmful chemicals or materials.
Able to crawl for a distance of 200 feet.
Able to stoop, crouch or kneel for up to 10 minutes at a time.
Vision: Correctable to 20/20 with no color blindness.
Hearing: Correctable to normal range and wear appropriate hearing protection as required.
