JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Controller will be responsible for all administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee all accounting operations: Cash, AP, AR and general ledger functions for Indy Eleven and the Indy Eleven Soccer Foundation.
- Manage month end close process including supervision and/or preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and variance analysis (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow forecasts) for both entities.
- Process bi-weekly payroll; includes review of monthly sales commission, approval of employee expense reports, understanding employee contracts and the related pay schedule.
- Coordinate preparation of supporting schedules, financial statements for tax reporting and league reporting.
- Direct the development of the annual budget and monitors financial activity through the year.
- Oversee treasury-related functions including the preparation of cash flow forecasts to ensure adequate funds are maintained.
- Serve as primary point of contact with insurance providers (all business coverage and workers compensation).
- Oversee, monitor and work to improve accounting procedures, policies and internal controls including communication to staff and training.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers and other financial systems and applications.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure appropriate internal controls, compliance and accounting standards applicable to financial governance.
- Manage and mentor staff direct reports. This includes oversight of box office operations.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 7 years’ experience in the area.
- Proficiency with current financial software, including Quickbooks.
- Understanding of US GAAP.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and non-traditional hours as required by home game schedule.
- CPA license preferred, but not required.
- Public accounting experience preferred, but not required.
