What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Scientist position at Indy Health Labs?
The laboratory scientist performs tasks within a wide scope of laboratory functions. This position is responsible for the receipt, organization, testing, reporting of daily patient specimens in a toxicology and PCR laboratory. The laboratory scientist will adhere to protocols and quality measures while performing sample preparation and analyzing patient results.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs and reviews drug screening evaluates the acceptability of testing
- Responsible for general operation, maintenance, troubleshooting of urinalysis analyzer and PCR equipment.
- Monitors and records temperature settings and calibration of multiple laboratory equipment
- Prepares calibration, QC material, and reagents
- Ensures quality assurance/quality control of a highly complex lab
- Performs screening procedures and statistical analysis
- Maintains proper handling of medical records and test results
- Order tests, analyze, review, and release toxicology and molecular data through LIS
- Responsible for consumable supply inventory and stocking work-stations
- Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
- Participate in routine laboratory tasks and other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, OR Associate’s in Applied Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology
- 6 months-2 years’ work experience in a CLIA-accredited clinical laboratory preferred
- Urinalysis analyzer experience (Preferred)
- PCR experience (Preferred)
