Due to their continued success, our client is looking to expand the Digital Engineering team in Houston and are seeking a DevOps Lead for Engineering Applications. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to various innovative projects, including our CAE Tool Modernization Program.
As the DevOps Lead for Engineering Applications, you will take charge of leading a team responsible for engineering application design, development, and maintenance. This includes architecture design and the selection of IT technology to create sustainable and scalable applications. Your role will also encompass overseeing the software development and deployment lifecycle to ensure speed to market, efficiency, and quality, all aimed at delivering higher value to our customers.
What You Will Do:
· Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and internal and external software users to gain a deep understanding of client needs, industry trends, and technological advancements. Use this insight to develop optimal engineering application solutions.
· Lead the technical vision for engineering applications and align it with ABS Digital Class strategy and relevant products.
· Assign tasks and guide a team of software developers, business analysts, and QA/QC professionals.
· Design, develop, test, and debug new engineering applications, taking full responsibility for the quality of these applications.
· Contribute to an agile project team by helping to understand and document business and client requirements, estimate work, develop new solutions, and enhance existing applications.
· Actively conduct code reviews and facilitate peer code reviews to improve software quality.
· Mentor software developers and other team members, helping them grow their technical skills.
· Promote and collaborate on development and coding best practices.
· Research new technologies and develop software architecture strategies to meet defined business objectives, including but not limited to cloud deployment and software-as-a-service.
Education & Experience
· A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering and/or software development.
· A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
· Strong experience in developing and managing complex desktop and/or web applications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· In-depth understanding of the software development process and workflows.
· Comprehensive knowledge of marine engineering and engineering software.
· Familiarity with structural modeling and experience in CAD and CAE.
· Ability to work in a team environment, possessing an open-minded approach and strong coordination, organization, and communication skills.
· Excellent writing skills and experience in composing software specifications and design documents.
· Strong learning ability, a keen interest in emerging technologies, and a passion for engineering software development.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
