Job DescriptionWhat we're looking for:
We are looking for an experienced Vice President (VP) of Marketing to direct and oversee our Marketing department. You will design, implement, and monitor effective marketing strategies that align with our business goals. Our VP of Marketing will report directly to the Executive Vice President and will oversee internal, cross-functional Marketing teams specializing in B2B media, events, and marketing services. You will also play a significant role in shaping the vertical's strategic planning as a member of the group management team, in addition to influencing all marketers within the Infrastructure & Construction family.
The candidate will be a seasoned and talented commercial and people leader, who can influence and develop both new and established products and teams. They will have a proven track record in collaborating with multidisciplinary, matrixed teams and leading through influence, growing and scaling the business with an astute understanding of effective change management practices.
In partnership with commercial, financial, sales and product teams, this role will be responsible for development and implementation of consistent data practices, customer focused marketing practices and attendee practices, driving high performance teams making decisions rooted in data and technology. It is also critical to embrace and thoughtfully implement change ensuring the delivery of relevant and innovative content, platforms and experiences, as well as commercially viable standalone products.
Role Accountability and Duties:
Marketing Strategy, Best Practices, Adoption and Product Development Support
- Leads a best practice marketing environment, driving efficiency and effectiveness, promoting the use of Marketing Excellence tools and approach and contemporary digital marketing methods; partner with commercial sales and marketing leadership to support business revenue goals through marketing best practice
- Sets direction for the marketing automation strategy including personas, segmentation, landing pages, lead scoring, customer journeys and nurturing campaigns; ensure family marketing strategies remain current and the latest trends and capabilities are effectively tested to deliver improved results
- Drives marketing productivity and its measurement and socialization through the organization
- Establishes marketing KPIs across brands, central marketing team and family and effectively creates and communicates strategy to achieve and grow them
- Drives the concept of modernization and commercial change related to progressive marketing concept implementation
- Through action & activity, instill a foundational data culture within marketing function and demonstrate the value of these practices to the commercial teams
- Understands the needs of our customers and support the development of products and strategies to meet those needs
- Drives quantifiable ROI from exhibitor promotion activity - retention and new business
- Optimizes communications processes and best practices for repeat customer journeys (e.g. exhibitor onboarding post contract) which will improve retention and ROI from marketing activity
- Partners with group brand directors in identifying and participating in the development of new products, solutions, and target market prospects to secure high value new business
- Partners with other marketing leads across families to drive best practices, share opportunities, and ensure excellence across the North America business
- Improves quality & performance of marketing output through access to shared strategists and implementers both internally and externally
- Develops a deep understanding of Informa's marketing technologies and become an advocate of their value and effectiveness
- In partnership with commercial leadership and matrixed support functions,contribute to development of strategic business proposals that increase revenue streams, profitability, ROI and optimise attendee engagement as well as develop digital and data strategies
- Working with vertical Marketing Leadership, support annual family budgeting process and 3-year plans in partnership with internal stakeholders and leadership in order to sustainably grow the operating profit of the business by driving revenue whilst managing costs and maximizing overhead efficiency
- Strategic internal communication within the business unit and at global Group level, which will communicate the highest priority strategic marketing initiatives in a way that maintains high engagement levels
Functional People Leadership
- Establish a greater focus on analysis and data driven decision making within the marketing leadership to allow more efficient use of time and marketing spend to focus attention on results, experiences and performance
- Regular and open communication within all levels of the organization to promote a data oriented high-performance culture, creating consistent and open two way proactive conversation, especially during times of change
- Working with Human Resources, Learning & Performance and Vertical Marketing leadership, develop and implement continous learning plan for marketing teams focused on data, digital transformation and progressive marketing practices
- Indirect leadership of diverse, remote and in office teams where colleagues are based in various locations across the US and beyond
- In partnership with Commercial Leadership and Human Resources, establish a succession plan and subsequent development plan for all marketing roles in the family
- In partnership with Human Resources, regularly socialize and foster a culture of continuous improvement through performance management, development programs, candid review processes and talent review
- Improve performance by ensuring team members have clear responsibilities and accountabilities and that these are socialised with key internal stakeholders
- Proactively and decisively develop digital and data strategies as well as identifying talent needs within the business to build out Informa's capabilities
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field
- 10-12 years of progressive work experience in Marketing, with a focus on Event Management
- Superb analytical and communication skills
- Proven track record of maximizing operational efficiency and design ensuring proactive approach to headcount budget management
- Team player who influences others through outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Preferred background in construction or related fields, events, conferences
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team as well as staff mentorship
