Role: APEX Developer
Location: Topeka, KS
Long term contract
This position will be responsible for the maintenance and support of the agency IT developed APEX applications. This position will also participate in development and design for new or modified application software.
Specific Duties
Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring alignment with agency strategic direction.
Serve as senior technical advisor, collaborating with agency staff to identify project resources and coordinate involvement from managers, stakeholders, and users.
Document and produce system additions or changes, meeting project objectives and quality standards.
Apply resources efficiently to complete IT projects on schedule; prepare management reports and deliver project presentations.
Develop requirements and specifications to meet project objectives; assure quality results through formal methodologies and quality reviews.
Conduct quality assurance processes for applications or projects, reviewed by the Applications Supervisor.
Define and develop complex systems, ensuring conformance with agency system architecture and technical direction.
Develop functional prototypes and validate designs with users and stakeholders.
Write and maintain custom program code using Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, XML, DHTML, APEX, and JavaScript.
Create and update user interfaces for simplified data entry and reporting; integrate third-party products as needed.
Modify existing program code to correct errors or update business functionality; design and perform unit and integration tests.
Maintain procedures and reference materials for system operation and technical support; provide first-line support for development and maintenance.
Develop and maintain training materials; convert and transfer data between formats.
Perform system, regression, and acceptance tests; coordinate user involvement and validate conformance to requirements.
Manage software releases and documentation updates; adhere to configuration management procedures.
Conduct user and management training; document user requests and assist in problem resolution.
Advise on information system capabilities to solve business problems.
Track and report user queries, requests, and problem resolutions; identify trends.
Manage data storage, retention, archival, and restoration, ensuring compliance with user needs and organizational requirements.
Skills Required
Application Express for Oracle (APEX), PL/SQL, SQL, HTML, XML
Ability to work with users and business analysts to create technical specifications for new development and documentation for existing applications.
Experience Required
Three years’ experience coding, testing, and debugging APEX applications.
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, and two years’ experience in information systems and analysis with APEX.
