We are currently seeking a Programmer Analyst IV to join the Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History within Information Technology Services (ITS) here at the University of Southern California (USC). The Programmer Analyst IV will be tasked with serving as a project leader for large and complex software application projects or as a specialist providing technical consulting on complex projects.

Formulates and defines system scope and objectives. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems. Prepares detailed application design specifications. Oversees program design, coding, testing, debugging, installation, documentation, and maintenance. Has full technical knowledge of programming and analysis and instructs, directs, and reviews the work of other programming staff.

USC Shoah Foundation, The Institute for History and Education, was founded by Steven Spielberg in 1994 and houses 55,000 audio-visual testimonies of genocide survivors and witnesses in its Visual History Archive (VHA). The VHA Program will expand worldwide sustainable access to the Visual History Archive. It will reimagine use to increase audience interactions and grow engagement with the goal of developing empathy, understanding, and respect through testimony.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The candidate for the position of Programmer Analyst IV must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or combined work experience and education as equivalent
  • 5 years of minimum experience
  • Relevant work experience providing strong technical knowledge of programming and analysis, and senior or lead experience

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate for the position of Programmer Analyst IV meets the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience 5 years of experience with computer software development troubleshooting and testing
  • Hands-on knowledge working with Angular2 , NgRx, Microsoft.Net, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, Web Services and SQL Server development.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Programming or a related field
  • Must have demonstrable experience building applications in Angular2 , preferably with Angular Material, FlexLayout, NgRx
  • Some experience working with C#, Asp.Net, MVC, Web services, Entity Framework and MS SQL development
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle, Systems Analysis and Design concepts and associated tools
  • Must have the ability to lead projects, communicate and report on developments.

THE WORK YOU WILL DO

The Programmer Analyst IV:

  • Serves as project lead or technical specialist for software applications. Establishes project plans and schedules, identifies staffing and resource requirements, and monitors progress providing status reports as required.
  • Serves as primary liaison to functional users of supported systems. Communicates with users to extract and define needs.
  • Develops system definition, architecture and detailed needs analysis including hardware and software recommendations.
  • Converts, or oversees conversion of, user needs into system design specifications (e.g., screens, input methodology, data base structure).
  • Oversees the design, coding, testing, debugging, installation, documentation and maintenance activities of project staff.
  • Designs complex applications using coding languages.
  • Establishes and implements user training programs.
  • Serves as mentor to junior level staff.
  • Follows protocols and procedures to ensure application security.
  • Stays informed of changes in technology by reading journals and other pertinent publications, maintaining contact with vendors, and participating in professional organizations, meetings, and seminars.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
