What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payment Clerk position at INFRAMARK, LLC?
JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE
The Payment Clerk is responsible for receiving payments from customers and recording payment transactions into the billing system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sorts and processes payments for assigned districts by: opening mail, scanning or keying payments, logging payments into batch sheet; stamping checks for deposit; filing out deposit slips.
- Maintains files and correspondence related to payment processing.
- Balances district batch sheets for each monthly closing cycle.
- Files batches from monthly close-outs.
- Sends deposit slips to appropriate bookkeeper.
- Researches bookkeeper requests (misapplied payments, deposits, etc.)
- Records amount of cash collected by armored car when needed.
- Processes payments at the payment window as needed.
- Reports new service orders to dispatch.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED. 1 year related experience.
Technical: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet. Ability to work with basic office equipment & phone systems. Ability to work with numbers, including calculations & cash handling. Ability to type 35 WPM, including Alpha-numeric keys & 10 key-machine. Other technical skills (specific to role and location): Basic map reading ability. Ability to read meters. Working knowledge of billing & payment processing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work environment is characteristic of an office environment: sitting, standing, walking, bending and lifting are required to perform job responsibilities. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 20 lbs.
