Seeking an experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) responsible for providing direct and/or indirect nursing care to patients. LVN provides safe and competent professional knowledge and skills in a health care team working under the supervision of Nurse Practitioner NP. LVN administers one-on-one routine care, take vital information from patients, and observe patient health.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Greet patients warmly
- Check the status of each patient consistently as they are treated
- Perform tasks needed for proper start-up and close-up
- Clear understanding of nursing principles
- Assists other clinic staff as needed
- Prepare & administer oral medications as directed by nurse practitioner and physicians’ order
- Provide medical information & education to patients, following established protocols & guidelines
- Document pertinent patient information, assessment & nursing procedures following established protocols
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Review, explain & clarify physician orders with patient
- Obtain and monitor patient vital signs
- Observe and monitor patient condition for reactions during & after procedures.
- Respond to potential allergic reactions
- Take & record patient vital signs, height, weight, etc
- Perform venipuncture
- Knowledge of computer practice management systems and other computerized systems (Microsoft Office programs, electronic health record systems)
- Communication skills, bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
- Ability to assist in medical emergencies and office procedures
- Ability to use computerized patient care systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and co-workers in a courteous and compassionate manner
- Ability to order medical and clinical supplies and maintain adequate inventory
- Ability to schedule patient appointments
- Ability to be flexible in working both back and front office to facilitate smooth workflow
- Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling Biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments
Qualifications
- Current CA LVN License (Required)
- Current BLS Card (Required)
- Minimum of two years’ experience as licensed vocational nurse in a physician office, medical facility or in an Internal medicine (Required)
- IV experience (Required)
- IV Certified (Required)
