The Calibration Specialist will support the operation of the Indianapolis laboratories by performing tests and calibration by maintaining equipment and records to ensure timely release of product and to meet customer expectations for quality. Core Responsibilities: Perform repairs, troubleshooting, calibration and maintenance of all laboratory instruments in a regulated environment for the following standards: USP, ISO 17025, ICH Q7, ISO 9001 and ISO 22000. Assist in the qualification of equipment, preventive maintenance, and simple or routine repairs. Maintain complete, accurate and legible records in accordance with Company policy and record keeping procedures. Coordinate internal and external calibrations. Uphold calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements. Retain records of all calibration and preventive maintenance on all instruments. Provide timely response to equipment failures; initiate calibration investigations when necessary. Assist in investigations of out of specification results and customer complaints, review and update SOPs, and conduct operator training. Act as on-call expert to perform on-site or phone troubleshooting and repair of instruments during off shift and weekends. Work as part of a technical group in a multi-cultural and diverse work environment to accomplish a common goal. Work with analysts to identify, investigate, and resolve process discrepancies. Provide training to laboratory technicians and Operations Personnel. Ability to rapidly learn new skills, and expand expertise into other areas of science. Must demonstrate the following characteristics: high energy, innovative, organized, handles multiple tasks, and positive attitude. Lean Six Sigma certification preferred. Strong oral, written, and computational skills. Ability to work in a diverse, team environment. Qualified candidates will have: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Food Science or related field, or equivalent work experience. Experience with analytical chemistry and chromatography. Demonstrated experience performing repairs, troubleshooting, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Possess good working knowledge of laboratory practices.
