SUMMARY:
Under general direction, performs professional purchasing and procurement work, including purchasing a variety of materials, services, supplies, and equipment. Responsibilities require the use of tact, discretion, and independent judgment. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the execution of the sourcing process, including identifying opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining quality, delivery, and supporting inventory cost goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Issuing purchase order based on requirements
- Prepare accurate orders and bids, arrange for timely delivery and review orders received
- Plans, manages and oversees daily operations and activities of the purchasing function
- Evaluate all suppliers and negotiate with contracts to achieve the most affordable, reliable and high quality sources for supplies
- Responsibilities require the use of tact, discretion and independent judgment
- Monitors activities of the assigned function, recommends improvements and modifications and prepares value reports on operations and activities
- Inventory control-monitor inventory levels and ensure that material is ordered and stocked
- Analyze usage changes once a year and adjust MRP information accordingly
- Responsible for managing purchase orders, tracking and expediting
- Review and coordinate purchase order backorder
- Track, document, and communicate cost changes, and financial implications
- Search for new sources to reduce costs, improve quality, or product availability
- Negotiate, implements and tracks purchase contracts
- Facilitate changes to orders as they occur, supplier and expediting when necessary
- Responsible for maintaining current supplier information in SAP
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Enter new MRP information in SAP as products are released and work with sales to forecast demand
- Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration- Major Supply Chain Management preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Proficient with Micro Soft Suite or related software
Proficient in SAP
Intermediate to Advanced Computer Skills
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate with vendors for placing orders and the ability to work efficiently
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to apply concepts of basic addition and subtraction
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to write letters via email to place orders and request confirmations
- Ability to effectively communicate with vendors and employees about orders
REASONING ABILITIES:
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
