Summary: Assists physicians and nurses with IR clinic patients and admit and recovery of all OBIC patients. Helps facilitate efficient department flow by assisting all departments within the IR clinic and OBIC with patient care and unit needs. Rooms patients in clinc or in the holding room. Takes patient’s history and vital signs, performs additional duties as trained and assigned. Assists in examinations and procedures when requested. Interacts with the providers, other departments within Inland Imaging, patients and family members and outside contacts with care and compassion.

- Escorts patients to exam rooms
- Assist patient in preparing for exam or procedure
- Obtain and document vital signs
- Interview patient to obtain patient chief complaint, histories, medications, allergies and enter into EMR
- Triage patient phone calls, documenting instructions provided, and/or route to provider for direction and disposition
- Call Pharmacy with authorized prescription refills and document in EMR
- Contact patient with provider directed instructions and document in EMR
- Review EMR/paper medical records prior to patient encounters to ensure chart is in order and includes all information that will be needed by the provider for the encounter
- Obtain outside patient records, films and other reports as needed by the providers
- Schedule appointments for CT’s/MRI, MRA and or diagnostic studies or referrals as directed
- Prepare orders for diagnostic studies
- Send appropriate records when scheduling/referring patients
- Maintain, clean and stock exam rooms
- Keep all supply/equipment, trays/kits fully stocked at all times
- Inventory medical supplies and provide order requests to appropriate person
- Call patients that have no showed for visits; triage, and route to scheduling for new appointment.
- Assist physicians and APPs with procedures
- Returns calls and messages for physicians, as directed by physicians or APPs
- Ensures provider has all paperwork needed for each exam, including previous reports, H&P's, lab results, and referral slips.
- Tracks and follows up on hospital procedures -Schedules patient consultations and follow up exams
- Prepares updates and sends out exam packet info
- Send out all consult/exam reports to all physicians on record
- Ensure that previous medical records are received and scanned into patients chart for scheduled appointments
- Answer and field patient calls label and deliver lab specimens to SHMC.
- Assist physicians with vein procedures
- This position may be required to work in a hospital, urgent care or clinical setting.

Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED;
- Certifications: Applicant/Employee must have passed CMA Board Exam or apply and obtain Washington State Registration within 6 months of employment.
- Experience:
o One year of Medical Assistant experience is required
o Anatomy and medical terminology is required
o Current CPR/BLS required
- Computer Skills: Experience with MS Office
- Background Check:
o Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
