Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The satellite industry is going through unprecedented changes as new entrants and technological advances fundamentally transform the market. To stay at the forefront of this fast-changing landscape, the Strategy and Growth Programmes team leads the charge for Global Government in developing and executing strategies and plans that keep Inmarsat competitive in our markets today and into the future.

One such initiative is the Chorus programme through which G2 seeks to expand their satellite communications business in the global aeronautical market segment. We are looking to provide a scalable and flexible beyond line-of-sight communication solution, for regional operations, to disseminate mission system data in real time from the airborne platforms to key end-users. The programme is expected to deliver a compelling platform-based solution for this segment backed by a comprehensive go-to-market and capture strategy.

As a Go to Market (GTM) Chorus and Aero manager you will report into the Senior Strategy and Go to Market Manager working across the wider organisation to define, plan, deliver and evaluate the Go to Market plans that will support the Chorus programme as well as the wider government aeronautical Go to Market plans as needed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition of GTM plans for government aero programmes, including but not limited to the creation of a clear value proposition, positioning guidance, segmentation, commercial models, and route-to-market strategy, including the identification of strategic partnerships.
  • Secure the appropriate buy-in for the GTM plan proposals and develop, manage and follow-through the execution of approved GTM plans.
  • Work with cross functional teams including but not limited to product, sales, pre-sales, commercial, technology, operations, and marketing teams to develop and deliver the GTM plans.
  • Establish strong relationships across all functions within the BU and with relevant corporate functions to support the GTM plans.
  • Manage and influence key stakeholders across all teams to get buy in and ensure decisions needed are made.
  • Lead and organize presentations, internal engagements and working groups.
  • Prioritize GTM work including selecting appropriate methods and identify optimisation opportunities to most effectively and efficiently achieve the GTM plan objectives.
  • Coordinate with various functional areas to implement the GTM plans and define key performance metrics to track the execution and measure the success of the initiative.
  • Clearly communicate and report on the initiative progress and recommendations to key stakeholders as and when required.
  • Work closely with different BUs and corporate teams, identify areas of improvement, and adjust the GTM plans to reflect them.
  • Ensure the execution of the GTM plans is aligned with the BU’s strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of new business cases to secure investments into government aero programmes.
  • Keep up to date with market, competitive, customers and partnership trends to ensure GTM plans deliver maximum value.

Qualifications

    Essential Knowledge and Skills:

    • 5 years of experience in the aeronautical market or related industry
    • Experience in working with cross functional teams and developing and executing go to market plans.
    • Motivated and ambitious, keen to drive outcomes in a large, complex organisation.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation, and influential skills to build consensus between different teams.
    • Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
    • Demonstrable ability to analyse and assimilate large and varied sources of information to draw conclusions and make creative and constructive recommendations.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to make sound judgement-based business decisions.
    • Good project management skills.
    • Strong IT Skills (Excel & PowerPoint are essential)
    • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree or above preferred.

    Desired Knowledge and Skills:

    • Knowledge of the aeronautical market in a Business to Government industry context.
    • Experience in the satellite communications, telecom, or IT industry at a business development, commercial or strategic level.
