Position Overview:
- Reports to the Director of Clinical Services
- Conduct skills acquisition, social skills & functional assessments initial and on-going; including but not limited to the Vineland, SSIS or other Social Skills assessment, Language Assessment, Transition/Vocational Assessment, and Autism specific skills assessments
- Draft conceptually well-written, presentable, grammatically correct initial, quarterly, and semi-annually treatment plans and progress reports. Reports should reflect progress, challenges, relevant psychosocial and educational information, future goals, and strategies
- Develop and implement behavior reduction assessments and intervention plans (FBAs & FAAs)
- Ensure recommendations for focused and comprehensive services follow BACB guidelines and utilize only evidence-based practices
- Consult & provide training for staff, parents, teachers, and community members on relevant topics
- Adhere to ethical standards in HIPAA and BACB Guidelines for Responsible Conduct
- Collaborate with all team members of the child’s private service and educational environment
- Provide training, coaching and supervision for staff, in all policies and procedures, performance and behavior management
- Develop and implement assigned social skills group programs
- Create CR Learn book for Telehealth session with appropriate Telehealth goals
- Supervise their assigned case manager, Sr. RBT, and other RBTs working with clients on their case load
- Collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Coordinator, and RBT Coordinator
Expectations:
- Treatment planning:
- Complete assessments and treatment plans in a timely manner (completed within one week from assessment, ready to submit on or before first day of services).
- Attend scheduled monthly treatment plan meetings
- Complete all updated treatment plans with progress that meets expectations of our insurance providers to be submitted for re-authorization two weeks prior to end of current authorization.
- Provide weekly/bi-weekly summaries of progress to families – we will develop a template in the data management program to ensure the reports are generated in a professional format with relative ease for you or Lead to generate and relative ease for parents to review.
- Client Services:
- Maintain above average supervision for each client, a part of our mission and vision shared with staff and families prior to initiating services. We currently submit for 5-8 hours of BCBA interaction with clients to be delivered over the course of the authorization period to allow for direct services, parent training, and client-specific supervision/training of staff.
- Provide direct services to clients on a regular basis to ensure program fidelity and note adjustments to programming to be shared with the team.
- Complete programming needs during times when clients are being served to ensure we can bill for those services we are providing (whether in the clinic, home, or school setting while technician is working directly with the client).
- Provide parents access to data management program, with opportunity and coaching to input data on relevant targets
- Telehealth services:
- If it is determined that Telehealth services are necessary for a client, the following must be completed prior to the initial Telehealth session
- LBS Practice Parameters for TH during COVID (including appropriateness decision tool, TH program needs assessment, risk assessment, environmental assessment & session planning checklist, caregiver pre- and post-session checklist, and informed consent for telehealth services)
- Telehealth prior authorization must be obtained from
- Clinical Director (in-house approval)
- Client insurance provider
- If it is determined that Telehealth services are necessary for a client, the following must be completed prior to the initial Telehealth session
- Case Manager Supervision
- Guide, train, and Coach the Case Manager on the following tasks:
- Pre-Authorization Submission
- Authorization Submission
- Scheduling of RBTs
- Staffing Needs
- Leadership skills so the CM can help coach RBTs
- Coordination and maintenance of data for the weekly and monthly reports
- Use of Central Reach for entering treatment plans
- The BCBA is responsible for reviewing ALL documentation entered into Central Reach by their Case Manager before the information can be submitted as a final product including but not limited to billing
- Guide, train, and Coach the Case Manager on the following tasks:
- RBT Supervision
- Guide, train, and coach RBTs as part of their supervision requirements as well as to support their role:
- Provide coaching in implementation of programs.
- Provide coaching in their training of technicians on the team for client-specific needs.
- Provide coaching and guidance in the review and analysis of progress data and development of treatment plans.
- Provide the opportunity to participate in client-specific research and programming
- Conduct a supervision session including 30 minutes observation blocks multiple times per week per RBT
- For example, BCBA observes RBT1 three times for 30 minutes each during the same day.
- Utilize Sr. RBT for initial and ongoing input of program targets into our data management system and development of materials for clients on the team they serve throughout the treatment period.
- Billing:
- Submit a minimum of 20-25 hours per week of billable services for clients you serve
- Ensure supervision sessions are entered prior to the end of the session, adjusting technician codes; convert by end of day
- Communication:
- All communication with parents, service providers, and technicians should be followed up with an email
- Limit communication via text to the extent possible (see above if communicated via text/phone)
- Work Hours:
- A minimum of 40 hours per week is expected
- Flexibility is given on specific hours of service to ensure client services are met and participation in social skills groups/parent training hours do not lead to excessive hours.
- Document work completed in staff management software for tracking purposes
- Document sick days, vacation days, and other missed time in staff management program; adhere to contractual expectations
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Designs and oversees individualized programs for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, ages 2-18, in natural settings.
- Schedules regular home visits with care givers to review program effectiveness, make observations, collect data, chart progress and provide parent coaching.
- Coordinates visits to overlap with members of the direct care team to observe sessions and provide coaching and clinical support in all settings where treatment is provided.
- Reviews data and reports submitted by team, and updates individualized programs to ensure that they reflect each child’s development and progress towards identified goals.
- Partners with the Clinical Director in conducting initial assessment and producing assessment report.
- Produces progress reports and treatment plans to meet the requirements and submission timelines of regulatory agencies and funding sources
- Plans and leads regular treatment updates with RBT's in office for each client.
- Plans and leads quarterly treatment meetings with family.
- Plans and leads Social Skills Groups.
- Plan and leads formal group parent training sessions.
- Provides services only within their scope of practice and scope of competence
- If a lack of experience or competency to address a specific client need is identified, the BCBA will make every effort to obtain and maintain suitable mentorship until which time competency is demonstrated independently.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Responsible for meeting productivity requirements set forth in annual budget and for providing efficient and effective service in all areas of performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of billable tasks that meets the requirements of regulatory agencies and funding sources, and is HIPAA compliant.
- Track direct and indirect client sessions to ensure that services are provided to the full extent of the authorization for each client.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education or Training Equivalent to:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines is required: applied behavior analysis, early childhood education/development, early childhood special education, special education, pediatric therapy, psychology or related field.
- Must be a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or upcoming BCBA exam scheduled
Minimum Years of Additional Related Experience:
- Two years of related professional experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders (“ASD") and/or other related developmental disabilities in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
Special Qualifications (Skills, Abilities, Licenses):
- Knowledgeable of methodologies found to benefit children diagnosed with ASD, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), knowledge of the VB MAPP, ABLLS, PEAK, etc.
- Familiar with the field of early intervention, and knowledgeable of other community resources and agencies that serve children.
- Sensitive to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Able to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Able to exercise confidentiality and discretion pertaining to the work environment.
