What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC/QA Lab Manager position at Innophos?
Innophos is seeking a QC/QA Lab Manager at our Geismar, Louisiana facility. This role serves as the QC liaison to Sales/Marketing, Technical Services & Manufacturing, and ensures all products produced/shipped by the facility meet the requirements of Innophos Nutrition and its customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Geismar Plant QC Lab, including supervision of personnel and review and validation of lab results generated by Lab Technicians
- Responsible for training Lab Technicians in lab procedures, including safety procedures affiliated with lab operations
- Responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and upgrading laboratory equipment and training new Lab Technicians on the use and maintenance of this equipment
- Provide technical support for Production to ensure quality control to meet customer specifications
- Drive the food safety system and processes at the Geismar Plant, including ongoing maintenance and oversight of the plant s BRC certification. Serve as the coordinator and key contact for the annual BRC audit.
- Serve as the key contact and coordinator for external auditors on audits pertaining to quality and food safety
- Provide training to all plant personnel to ensure compliance with food safety regulatory requirements, as well as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree
- Preferred areas of study: Chemistry, Biology or Sciences
- Similar or related experience desired: 5 or more years of experience in Quality Assurance Supervision; prior industry experience preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of current Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to food and dietary ingredients
- Preventative Control Qualified Individual (PCQI)
- Food Defense Qualified Individual (FDQI)
Environmental and/or Physical Requirements
- Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available
- Requires frequent plant field visits that may require the use of protective clothing & personal devices: Safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, mask, goggles, insulated gloves, safety vest, harness, hair net, slicker suit, self-contained breathing apparatus
