The ideal candidate for this role is both a builder of systems and processes as well as an expert in cost accounting, development of standard costs, process re-engineering, internal controls, and in inspiring and leading a diverse team to be their best selves and experts in accounting. This candidate will be an ERP and Costing Expert to be a trusted partner and collaborator that helps iA move away from older Excel driven procedures and towards robust ERP systems and processes that can leverage RPA, Centralized Reporting, Planning/Accounting Alignment and Prescriptive Analytics.
The Role:
The Director, Cost Accounting is responsible for ensuring that costs for iA’s products and services are allocated according to company procedures and in compliance with financial accounting standards. Oversees the Cost Accounting Team and Program Financial Analysist, cost control systems, manages and interprets cost audits, and prepares cost accounting reports for iA’s leadership. The Director, Cost Accounting works in conjunction with iA’s Procurement, Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams and must demonstrate excellent communication skills and working in a team environment.
What you’ll do:
- Construct ERP systems, processes and procedures for cost accounting, MRP system for accurate capture and clear reporting of enterprise costs including monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
- Work with engineering and manufacturing staff on the development, implementation, and ongoing analysis of
- Proper item setup, routers, and related BOM’s
- Costing and inventory valuation standards
- Create and review controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems
- Report on breakeven points and margins by product, customer, and department
- Report on product profitability
- Report on periodic variances and their causes
- Perform cost accumulation tasks of material and labor as needed
- Analyze capital budgeting requests
- Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
- Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues
- Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies. Update standards costs in the bill of materials
- Oversee project budget and tracking, including financial analysis and modeling, monitor project spending, profitability analysis, EAC calculations, and monitor financial risks and opportunities for existing and booked projects
Who you are:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 10 years’ experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- ERP system and process expert

- Project Management experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently
