Innovation Montessori Ocoee School is hiring a Teacher Assistant (TA) for the 2024 - 2025 school year with a start date in August 2024. While it is not required, the ideal candidate will have experience as a TA in a Montessori classroom. Our focus is child-centered learning, supporting the growth of independence in children. Reports To: Principal and/or Designee
Position Type: Hourly / Non-exempt
Work Schedule: 10-Month Position, Monday – Friday

Hours: 7:50 am – 3:50 pm

Pay Scale: 10-months, Classified Pay Scale
Board Approved Date: April 9, 2024

Job Purpose:
Performs instructional support work assisting classroom teachers in general clerical and administrative tasks as well as in certain daily classroom activities. Implements goals and objectives established by certified teachers and works directly with children.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED; one (1) year of experience with children (preferred).

· DCF Training (Primary Only).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Carries out clerical duties related to classroom teaching.

· Prepares instructional materials based on teacher directions.

· Assists with attendance reports, class reports; collects and accounts for monies.

· Maintains supplies and equipment for classroom use.

· Monitors student activities and behavior during/and without classroom teachers.

· Provides instruction to students as prescribed by the classroom teacher and reinforces skills introduced by the teacher.

· May be assigned monitoring duties i.e., lunch, restroom, and car-rider duties.

· Files records and materials.

· Escorts children to classes or specialized functions.

· Works effectively with school colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being.

· Perform other related duties as required.

Physical Requirements/Activity:

· Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

· The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, lift (up to 20 pounds), finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing acuity, and visual acuity.

· Indoor and Outdoor: Teacher Assistant is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
