We are looking for highly dependable team players to join our team as a 2nd Shift Quality Assurance Technician. The Quality Assurance Technician assists the Quality Manager in the preparation of lab samples, general in-process & lab tests, and daily review of the production paperwork. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Technician ensures compliance of the HAACP and pre-requisite programs.


  • Perform various internal analysis on product samples to determine physical, chemical, and microbiological characteristics.
  • Generate and maintain records of analysis, inspections, calibrations or other documents as required by state or other governing agencies.
  • Calibrate all laboratory instrumentation used in the measurement of in-process and finished product quality parameters.
  • Monitor various food safety and quality markers of product throughout processing.
  • Conduct organoleptic analysis of finished product to determine flavor profile, product quality and process performance.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate any process deviations and assist in the implementation of corrective/preventative actions.
  • Record and compile test results, analyze data through graphs, charts, or reports and send to outside labs when appropriate.
  • Assist in the manufacturing process by communicating quality control expectations and ensuring compliance of regulatory requirements, SOPs, SSOPs, and company policies.
  • Monitor and verify internal Master Sanitation Schedule, CIP/COP sanitation methods, and facility GMP’s through visual inspection and microbiological analysis.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state of the art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment.
  • Ensure all personnel and facility GMP’s are utilized properly and consistently.
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources.
  • Identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Using relevant information and deductive reasoning to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
  • Identify the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Handle and compile production samples to be sent to outside labs.
  • Assists FSQA Manager in the development and implementation of documents relating to the Standard Operating Procedures for production of products and co-products of the company.
  • Assists FSQA Manager in the preparation of customer QA survey packets and other customer communications as assigned.
  • Conduct internal audits, assign corrective actions, and follow up.
  • Assists in audit preparation (internal and external audits)
  • Perform other functions as directed.

Salary: $18 - $21/hr. (depending upon experience)

Requirements

Must Have Skills/Experience

  • Previous QA experience in Food Processing

Education and Work Experience

  • Training in vocational schools, related on the job experience, or an Associate Degree
  • 1 year Quality Assurance experience, Basic understanding of HACCP, and Quality Management Systems, Microsoft Office, or related data entry software.
  • BRCGS/SQF experience a plus

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Knowledgeable in food safety regulatory requirements
  • Experience working under the directives of SQF, BRCGS, GFCO and Kosher certification programs.
  • Data entry, analysis, and communication utilizing various software suites such as Office 365, Adobe PDF, editor, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the safe and effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This included customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods. Calibration and testing using NIR methodology is a definite plus.
  • The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Physical Capabilities Required

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. at a time
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Job includes reaching, standing, walking, talking, and hearing, moderate amounts of grasping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have a sufficient visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
