We Need: Staff with a flexible schedule to work various shifts/days at the different residential homes. The ideal candidate will be a supportive and caring individual with good verbal communication skills looking for a position to work with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential home setting. This position provides time off for residential homes' staff vacancies and staff out on leave, such as vacation. This position requires the ability to perform a number of roles and responsibilities, depending on the position being covered. Must be able and willing to travel to all our residential homes in Charlotte, Wingate, and Hickory. Guaranteed 40 hours per week but often can include more hours depending on the position being covered. Overtime is typical in this position.
Job Type: Full-time; typically, 40 hours per week
Rate: $16.00 per hour: $2,000 sign-on bonus payable in three installments: $500 after training is complete, $500 after 6 months, and $1,000 at 12 months.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
What You'll Do:
- Teach meal planning and cooking.
- Instruct and assist with household cleaning, personal care & hygiene.
- Documentation regarding goals when needed.
- Helping residents identify and acquire valued social roles.
- Facilitating community integration and providing community recreational activities when available.
- Documentation of weekend activities.
- Helping residents develop healthy social habits.
- Dispensing medication and monitoring dosages.
- Attending doctor appointments.
- Must be willing to drive a full-size passenger van.

All applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and successfully pass a drug screen and background check. Applicant must be at least 21 years old and have 6 months of direct experience working with individuals with disabilities (paid or volunteer) and one year of supervisory experience preferred; or one year of direct experience working with individuals with disabilities (paid or volunteer) and six months supervisory experience preferred. All experience must be verifiable. In lieu of experience with disabilities, other relevant experience may be considered but will require additional paid training. All experience must be verifiable.
