Required Skills:
- PhD in Neurobiology or a related field
- Experience training macaques to sit in a primate chair and to perform sensory, motor and/or cognitive tasks
- Experience supporting macaque surgeries, including maintenance of surgical instruments, sterile preparations, and pre- and post-operative care
- Experience with setting up and troubleshooting in-vivo electrophysiology hardware and software, including recording/microstimulation systems and behavioral tracking systems
- Experience with electrophysiology, imaging, and/or optogenetics in alert, behaving macaques
- Experience with stimulus/task design and presentation, for e.g. on high performance displays
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- MATLAB or Python programming and data analysis expertise
- Experience with implant hardware design and prototyping
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High ethical standards in working with animals and reporting scientific results
- Desire to work with amicable, energetic, interdisciplinary teams
Desired skills:
- Translational research experience
- Experience with viruses and with MRI- and stereotactic-guided virus injections and/or chronic implantations in macaque
- Familiarity with nVista and/or nVoke technology
- Experience supporting necropsies
- Proficiency with post-mortem immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy
- Experience developing lab standard operating procedures and IACUC protocols
Location and Travel:
This position is for work onsite at the California National Primate Research Center (CNPRC) in Davis, CA. Occasional (<10%) travel to Inscopix headquarters (Palo Alto, CA) or the Inscopix Lab (Mountain View, CA) is required.
