Position SummaryPortland Community College’s Auto Collision / Repair programis seeking a new full-time faculty member. The Auto Collision / Repair program isa recognized leader in preparing future technicians for the evolvingindustry.

We are currently looking for a full-time faculty member whohas up-to-date collision repair knowledge to teach a variety of courses in ourfield.

Examples of such courses may include : frame repair and measurement,panel repair, replacement, and alignment, welding, heating / cooling systems, andhave an understanding of estimating systems.

Candidate Profile These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

  • Demonstrated current technical knowledge of auto collision repair, with recent auto collision repair industry experience
  • Recent teaching or training experience, and success in lecture and practical training environments (particularly in the field of auto collision repair)
  • Demonstrated proficiency using technology (for example MS Office), including presentation and instructional / training software applications
  • Remains current in the field and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Knowledge of and commitment to a culture of safety
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates an awareness of the need to teach industry-specific content in ways that value and include differences in individual experiences, cultural, ethnic, gender, linguistic diversity and socioeconomic status

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Required Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

I-CAR Training in Auto Collision Repair

Required Experience

Five years full-time on the line experience in Auto Collision Repair with some technical knowledge of Auto Body Painting

3 or more years of supervisory work experience in the Auto Collision Repair industry

ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) certification in Auto Collision Repair is required within the first year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

AAS (or higher) in Auto Collision Repair Technology

Teacher’s preparation coursework

Preferred Experience

Five years current full-time on the line experience in Auto Collision Repair with some technical knowledge of Auto Body Painting or

Five years recent experience teaching elements of Auto Collision Repair, or

Five years supervisory experience in the Auto Collision Repair industry

Position Grade0Starting Salary ExpectationsInitial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($64,562) and Step 3 ($68,491) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.

Position Grade Salary Range$68436 to $109776 Annual SalaryFTE1PCC BenefitsPCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options.

Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, Long-term Care, and Auto and Home Insurance programs.

PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS / OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS / OPSRP.

A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age;

plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.

Please note : Temporary Full-Time Faculty are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.

Paid Leave :

  • 1 day of sick leave for every 18 days worked ( 10 per year)
  • 21 hours of additional personal leave per year
  • 4 paid holidays (which occur during the term you are teaching)
