Position Summary
Oversees student conduct at Santa Fe Community College. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement.
This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule. Duties & Responsibilities
Communicates preventative educational aspects of the student conduct process and educates students about appropriate behavior expectations.
Provides information and training to faculty on managing disruptive student behavior.
Investigates student conduct cases and recommends appropriate conduct resolution.
Monitors and tracks disciplinary cases to safeguard fair procedures and timely disposition; reports all cases to Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) to detect cross-campus offenders;
works with BIT to develop conflict resolution alternatives; identify intervention where appropriate.
Provides disciplinary records clearance to investigative inquires by outside agencies.
Works collaboratively to develop and implement cross campus communication for all cases from initial contact, investigative conclusions, and case follow-up including Title IX cases.
Serves as the administrator of Maxient, conduct manager tool.
Manages a case load of students including follow-up contact and necessary interventions as needed.
Assists in handling student issues, including grade appeals and other processes.
Serves as a resources for college staff in solving student issues : develops strategies for interaction between faculty and staff to meet student needs while improving completion.
Works closely with the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of program management and evaluation;
Knowledge of the judicial review process.
Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations.
Knowledge of academic standards governing the student population.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Knowledge of campus resources available to students.
Skill in conflict resolution.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to perform complex task, analyze and solve problems and prioritize
Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
Minimum Qualifications :
Masters degree in social work, counseling or related field.
Three (3) years experience related to student services and / or conduct.
Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual, English / Spanish
Experience using Banner software.
Experience in higher education, community college setting, preferred.
Formal Title IX training.
Physical Demands
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping.
The work is typically performed in an office.
Work Hours
Typically 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work after hours and / or weekends.
