NE04 Position Summary
This position is responsible for operating the college switchboard and assisting with directing visitors to various campus departments and locations.
MAJOR DUTIES
Manages all incoming telephone calls for the college; provides information and assistance; transfers to proper extensions;
provides quality customer service.
- Directs students and visitors to the proper department or classroom.
- Assists departments with special, short-term projects such as phone call campaigns, mailings and other special projects.
- Relays information regarding campus activities.
- Receives calls for closed departments.
- Maintains updated lists of training for community and college programs.
- Provides clerical support for department operations.
- Compiles and maintains a college-wide employee and departmental telephone list.
- Compiles a list of campus and departmental hours.
- Performs related duties.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Digital Marketing Manager assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include department and college policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY / SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of related switchboard operation duties and customer service duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to operate the college switchboard. Success in this position results in the efficient delivery of information and assistance to callers, students and visitors.

- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, students, and members of the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship / internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
