Bring your experience and continue to learn and grow with us! This position provides Mid-Level Environmental support to projects for federal, state, municipal, and commercial clients. The candidate will be responsible for: sampling and analysis plan preparation, data quality assessment support, field investigation support; coordination with analytical laboratories, and preparation of technical reports. The candidate will work collaboratively with and under the supervision of a project or program manager. Prior experience with contaminated site investigation and cleanup projects is required. The candidate will prepare various technical deliverables including reports, letters, cost estimates, tables, and figures.
Your Role :
- Provide general environmental science support to projects (e.g., laboratory and field analysis method selection, interpret which contaminants or hazardous substances may be present at a site based on material used there).
- Develop Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs) (chemistry sheets, and contaminant fate and transport descriptions, in particular). Assist in Data Quality Objective (DQO) development.
- Procure and coordinate with laboratories.
- Assist Project Manager or Field Leader with Laboratory Pre-Mobilization Meeting Checklist.
- Access laboratory website portals for download of data reports, in coordination with data processing group.
- Review SAPs or portions thereof prepared by others (as appropriate) for adequacy related to analyses.
- Review/interpret data validation reports and communicate findings.
- Interface/troubleshoot problems with laboratories.
- Interface with risk assessors and other team members on matters of chemistry and chemical analyses.
- Conduct data usability assessments using data validation reports and prepare reviews of Precision, Accuracy, Representativeness, Completeness, and Comparability (PARCC) parameters.
- Interface with data management personnel, when necessary, perform quality assurance (QA) checks of report data tables for reporting limits, and significant figures.
- Provide laboratory performance feedback.
- Review/prepare reports (e.g., data quality, fate and transport, and contaminant trends).
- Interpret literature information regarding chemical behavior in the environment.
Qualifications :
- B.S. or B.A. degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related science discipline.
- Between 5 to 10 years of professional experience is required with a focus on environmental consulting, with history of increasing responsibility. Project experience to include: CERCLA or RCRA investigation projects, data validation and data quality assessment, and site characterization.
- Familiarity with and understanding of the various compendiums of laboratory analytical methods, including SW-846, EPA toxic organic methods in ambient air, and laboratory statements of work.
- Experience in developing DQOs, preparing Uniform Federal Policy (UFP) Quality Assurance Project Plans (UFP-QAPPs); UFP Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs); Field Sampling Plans (FSPs); Long-Term Monitoring (LTM) Plans; and environmental restoration work plans.
- Familiarity with data validation, up to and including detailed reviews of full laboratory data packages. Familiar with the application of the guidelines for organic, inorganic, and high-resolution data review. Broad experience with analytical data for both inorganic parameters (metals and wet chemical methods) and organic parameters [volatile and semi volatile organic compounds, pesticides, herbicides, polychlorinated biphenyl compounds, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), dioxins/furans, and emerging contaminants].
- Experience conducting data quality assessments and writing data quality assessment reports, summarizing the reconciliation of a project's data quality with the stated DQOs.
