Certified Peer Support Specialist

Job Title: Peer Support Specialist (MHACBO Certified Recovery Mentor)

Location: Insight Northwest Recovery (INR)

Work schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Position Overview: The Peer Support Specialist at INR will provide critical support and mentorship to individuals ages 13-25 in recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. Utilizing their personal recovery experience, the Peer Support Specialist will foster a supportive environment that encourages hope, resilience, and empowerment among our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a role model, mentor, and advocate for clients, using personal recovery experience as a tool for encouragement and support.
• Facilitate individual and group support sessions to promote recovery, self-determination, and wellness.
• Assist clients in developing and achieving personal goals related to recovery and wellness.
• Provide support in navigating the mental health and addiction recovery services system, including assistance with appointments and transportation as necessary.
• Collaborate with treatment teams to provide client-centered services that support recovery plans.
• Document client interactions and progress in recovery, maintaining accurate and timely records.
• Engage in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge in peer support and recovery mentoring.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification as a Recovery Mentor from Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO).
• Lived experience in recovery from mental health or substance use disorder, with a willingness to share personal experiences to benefit others.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and relate to individuals from various backgrounds.
• Knowledge of recovery resources and mental health support systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of care.
