Position Summary

This position includes working with team members to plan and conduct mixed-methods research studies and program evaluations with a particular focus on education programs and policy. Specific tasks may include conducting semistructured interviews, coding and analyzing qualitative data, conducting literature reviews and other background research, contributing to reports and proposals, and cleaning and analyzing quantitative data. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in both qualitative and quantitative research and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The work will focus primarily on education topics, with the potential to explore different themes across the company. Candidates should have excellent attention to detail, exemplary time management skills, and a spirit of generosity.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior researchers on mixed-methods projects developing study designs, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and drafting reports and other deliverables to address clients’ research needs.
  • Perform data collection tasks, including conducting surveys, interviews, focus groups, or collection of administrative data.
  • Perform qualitative data analysis tasks, including coding and analyzing data in NVivo and quantitative data analysis tasks, including moving and combining datasets from different platforms; cleaning, aggregating data, and analyzing data.
  • Help develop proposals for new research projects.
  • Manage schedules, including working closely with research or proposal teams to ensure activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

Education

  • Master’s degree in education, economics, psychology, statistics, public policy, sociology, or related field, or
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years’ related work experience in research and evaluation services to federal or state agencies

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and understanding of education programs and policy
  • Strong foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality control checks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with analytical software such as SAS, Stata, or R preferred
