Summary/Objective
Drives the Community vehicles for resident activities, doctor appointments, shopping, and other scheduled activities. S(he) may also perform general maintenance on said vehicles, including washing, waxing, and detailing. S(he) may serve as an escort if needed as well as provide assistance to Resident Services to help schedule appointments, answer phones, and perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
1. Helps to maintain the transportation schedule
2. Provides timely and efficient transportation service to residents according to the transportation schedule; this may include assisting with loading and unloading residents from the vehicles, as well as escorting residents during their time away from the Community
3. Coordinates the safe return of all residents by keeping a log of residents in the vehicle for outings
4. Actively communicates with proper staff members to ensure resident transportation needs are met in a timely manner
5. Ensures the proper check-in and check-out procedures are followed for vehicle keys and other items related to company-owned vehicles
6. Responsible for completing transportation reports, as assigned, which may include logs, reports of mileage, maintenance, and/or upkeep
7. Fully understands and complies with all policies and procedures related to Chauffeur and vehicle safety
8. Ensures vehicles are thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed
9. May perform other duties, in support of other departments, during times when not assigned to driving
10. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Work Environment
Works in a well-lighted area that is ventilated and is physically, physiologically, and psychologically innocuous as possible under the conditions which exist at any particular time. On occasion, there may be exposure to outdoor spaces, which will, by their nature, have variances in air quality, temperature, walking surfaces, lighting, and other physical aspects. The work requires being able to handle the stress of driving, understanding the local area to avoid accidents or traffic congestion, being able to navigate throughout the region, and treating residents with respect and courtesy at all times. Because the essential functions may require exposure to bodily functions and infectious waste, diseases, odors, and other situations associated with health care, including but not limited to exposure to AIDS, HIV and Hepatitis B viruses involving Risk Classification Categories 2 and 3**, environmental and safety conditions will fluctuate. S(he) will need to possess the ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to one’s self or others.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Frequent body movements include lifting, moving, transferring, bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching. Able to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted, with twisting and turning of the torso. Must be able to assist residents in and out of the vehicle.
Certifications, Licenses, Education and Experience and other Special Requirements
A High School Diploma or equivalency is required, experience in a Senior Living environment preferred. The Chauffeur must be at least 21 years of age to be eligible for insurance coverage by Company carrier. S(he) must also hold a valid Florida driver’s license with less than three points. The Chauffeur must be able to pass the Driver Road Test and provide an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report each year. HIV/Aids In-Service, Infectious Control/Personal Hygiene Training, CPR/First Aid, Emergency Training, and Resident’s Rights Training, highly preferred.
