What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Plant Fiber Splicer position at INSPYR Solutions?
Location: Soux City, IA
Duration: Long term contract to hire
Compensation: 28.00 - 33.00 per hour
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the US
Our Client is looking for Fiber Splicers for the Sioux City IA area to continue on and Travel with the project. They must be flexible to Travel and work in the elements since this is a OSP position.
The successful candidate will be expected to do at least 2 ring cuts and 25 splices per day or more. The candidate must have all their own hand tools and is preferred that they have a fusion splicer and OTDR tester as well but if they do not one can be provided.
All fiber splices will be Single Strand
Position Details
(FS1) Fusion splice 1 fiber
Unit covers the permanent connection of one fiber to another by fusion splicing. This includes sheath preparation and labeling. It includes bonding, grounding, and tagging the closure.
(FS2) Ring cut
This includes sheath preparation of cable stored in a slack loop, placing an enclosure, labeling, and maintaining continuity on fibers that are not being spliced and placing the cable back in the slack loop with show shoe brackets where applicable.
(FS3) Test Fiber
Unit covers power meter and OTDR testing of fibers. This includes providing test results for fibers that were tested. Contractor to supply any miscellaneous materials.
(FS4) Re-Enter/Install Enclosure
Unit covers the placement of a ready access splice closure. It includes bonding, grounding, tagging the closure and proper storage of remaining cable in a slack loop and with sno shoe brackets where applicable.
