The IE Data Operations Jr. Analyst position is a full-time position under the ISS STOXX Market Intelligence Research business unit called Investor Economics. Investor Economics is a research firm that specializes in the fact-based measurement and analysis of the retail financial services and wealth management industry in Canada.
IE Data Operations is responsible for collection, management and data production supporting IE Research analysts. The data includes information about mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, fund wraps, deposits, market-linked notes, segregated funds, etc. in multiple product structures under the umbrella of the Canadian financial industry.
The IE Data Operations Jr. Analyst will report directly to the IE Data Ops Manager, and work with a cross-functional global team on a daily basis.
We are looking for analytical and technically savvy individuals to join our IE Data Ops team in Norman, Oklahoma. Ideal candidates will have a high level of independent judgment, an incredible attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should be able to work both as part of a team and autonomously. This role is ideal for someone who is looking for a position that is going to be challenging and demand high performance, but will give them hands-on experience working with data, financial analytics, and some light automation exposure.
Responsibilities include:
  • Collect data based on established methodologies, comply with established work processes, and performance standards to ensure timely and high-quality data
  • Data mapping, entry, and extraction/transformation from multiple and external datasets to create harmonized project datasets
  • Validate, clean, and input sourced data into ISS internal database systems using database tools
  • Create high quality reports and other deliverables for internal research teams
  • Participate in data quality assurance efforts, including performing root-cause analysis for identified data quality issues
  • Support relevant process improvement and technology projects by contributing to specifications and testing deliverables
  • Maintain documentation of work processes and institutional knowledge in a centralized, web-based database
  • Special projects as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business or data management related field
  • Proficient ability in Microsoft Excel and it's functionality
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience using PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to
    • learn new data and technology concepts
    • work well as part of a team
    • adapt to performing various and changing tasks throughout the work day
    • synthesize data from multiple sources
Bonus:
  • Work experience relevant to data operations or the financial services industry
  • Familiarity with excel macros and VBA
  • Familiarity with relational databases, MS Access and SQL
