Shipping Specialist - Position Summary

As a non-profit organization focusing on providing medical supplies to individuals who lack access or affordability, a successful candidate in this role must possess the desire to work with humanitarian aid by maintaining an orderly facility through teamwork to accomplish our objectives. This position is a mix of an office job at a small but busy outbound facility. This employee will focus on shipping and receiving, packing supplies, communicating with partners, and working alongside staff members on assigned tasks. The ideal candidate will participate in formal and informal activities that enhance professional development, build skills, and provide a purposeful role at an organization.

The expectations of availability for the job are Monday through Friday during typical office hours, which are approximately 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with a small group of people and maintaining a professional and positive work environment for all.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Oversee the pulling and packing of shipments along with associated inventory management.
• Coordinate scheduled shipments and collect use reports from partners
• Manage inventory of “extra-shipment” boxes and schedule outgoing pallet shipments accordingly,
• Supervise disaster relief shipments through planning and shipping
• Communicate effectively with our partners and staff
• Sporadically assist with team-wide projects

Required Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others
• Comfortable handling needles, syringes, and other medical equipment
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite software
• Experience in professional office duties with proficiency in communication and writing skills
• Exercises effective communication skills through both phone calls and email communication
