Job Description

As a Financial Commissions Accountant you will be responsible assisting our Sales Professionals and Regional Offices with their compensation. This will include researching compensation payments at a policy level, gathering and analyzing multiple sources of information to ensure accuracy, corresponding with the Sales staff through both verbal and written communications and communicating with internal and external customers to obtain/provide information related to compensation. You will also be responsible for preparing corrections to agents' compensation.

We are looking for an ambitious Financial Commissions Accountant who is willing to learn about multiple tightly integrated applications in order to support the ever-growing broker commissions business processes.

This position is part-time and you can choose your own flexible hours schedule.

Primary Responsibilities

Commissions Responsibilities

  • Provide reports on invoicing, commissions, credit control as required
  • Ensure accurate and timely settlement of commission due to brokers
  • Investigation into missing commission, statement claw backs, change in agency details received from brokers in all regions liaising with all departments to ensure a full response and details explanation is provided to the broker
  • Issuing commission statements in accordance with the agreed frequency.
  • Processing manual/and returned commission when required to do so
  • Track sales vs. quota information to determine commissions.
  • Ensuring data is loaded properly for timely processing of commissions.
  • Retrieve commission statements and any other reports, pdfs, emails, mail, or documents necessary to process agent commissions.
  • Assist in the broker / carrier commission administration
  • Convert statements, which may include manually keying the statement from PDF into Excel format.
  • Ensure that each commission statement (or other documents necessary for processing commissions) is in good order and matches business specifications as identified by internal and external business partners.
  • Correct identified commission statement discrepancies and communicate those to internal team members.
  • Performs weekly maintenance and commission calculations.
  • Researches escalated commission inquiries from all markets and decide whether or not payments need to be made.
  • Contact the carrier when needed, to resolve statement discrepancies.

Accounting Responsibilties

  • Perform statement audits as needed.
  • Manage internal and external inquiries regarding billing and accounts receivable
  • Timely and accurate issuing of invoices in accordance with the agreed billing frequency, this will

involve an element of creating manual invoices

  • Prepare monthly insurance carrier bills and payments along with the underlying reconciliation
  • Investigate any queries with invoices
  • Update carrier specifications and business rule documents as needed.
  • Update and maintain carrier specific databases each time a statement is loaded.
  • Document all corrected statement errors and discrepancies that could not be corrected on a statement.
  • Maintain bank details, email addresses etc that payments have to be made to and statements issued to.
  • Preparing and issuing manual monthly statements, manually typing where intervention is required making the statement easier to read for the broker. Re issuing statements on request

Required Qualifications

  • You must be able to multi-task to manage multiple tasks at one time and work successfully in a structured fast paced team environment which means your day will go by fast.
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel skills (V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, formula building, etc.)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • One year of experience in accounting processes and strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision processing a high-volume of work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong numeric and analytic skills, positive attitude, and willingness to assist team members when needed
  • Must have excellent and have excellent problem solving abilities
  • Ability to maintain sensitive information and data confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Invoicing/billing/administration experience is preferred but not essential
  • Experience with reconciling activities and reporting is preferred but not essential
  • Experience with relational database systems is preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of Commissions processes is preferred but not essential
  • Experience with Microsoft Access (navigating, accessing and using databases) is preferred but not essential
  • Experience working on a team and with multiple levels within an organization
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal skills
