JOB PURPOSE The Legacy Claims Product Owner coordinates with the Head of US Claims Operations to assist in establishing the relationships between North America Legacy Claims, its business partners, and vendors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with manager to deliver tactical operations optimization through return on investment and cost-benefit analysis
Aides in developing the strategy to optimize existing portfolios and co-ordinates Claims activities to implement new portfolios
Operates as a lead as needed or subject-matter expert from initial evaluation to final operational stage, including the transition into “business-as-usual”
Helps set strategic priorities for Claims
Assist in developing the metrics to determine the ROI for new system and process implementation
Engages with the leadership team to outline and communicate the strategic advice to Claims’ business partners on vendor and portfolio establishment and management
Acts as project manager, analyst or subject-matter expert for cross-department projects assigned to you that impact the Claims. Projects may include reporting, systems configuration, loss fund establishment, service level standards and other logistics.
Develops and supports continuity plans that may impact stakeholders and business partners
Vendor Management and Partnership:
Help to foster collaboration and maintain vendor partnerships through contracts that solve near-term opportunities which align with the strategic vision of the Claims department.
Actively manage the vendor and portfolio onboarding plans
Continuously seek to minimize risk by developing and implementing vendor and portfolio onboarding plans and ensure regular and accurate communication to stakeholders
Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on activities related to Claims portfolios and vendor relationships
Provide operational expertise/training/oversight to vendor partners and Claims associates as needed

Experience with SLA and SOWs is critical
5 years prior experience in an agile environment
Moderate (3-5 years) background in change management, including obtaining executive sponsorship, understanding behavioral change, and business case presentations
Start-up operational experience a strong plus

Possess a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of claims handling, vendor oversight and relations, claims operations and compliance
Excellent stakeholder management skills, ensuring all aspects of projects are well-communicated and instills confidence in both internal (M&A, Actuarial, Finance and executive management) and external stakeholders and partners
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
Excellent collaborative style and facilitation skills, with ability to flex depending on audience
Ability to influence, motivate, guide, and rally the project team to an on-time delivery with limited risk and while delivering business valued functionality with little guidance
Intermediate or advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word, Sharepoint, PowerBI)
SQL server experience preferred
EXPERIENCE
5-7 years of successful claims handling and operational experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Broad experience across multiple Claims lines of business
Relevant experience in claims handling and customer/vendor/portfolio management experience in the handling and/or management of claims
TPA oversight and/or management experience
Project or program management experience strongly preferred
People leadership experience preferred
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Successful achievement of industry designations (CPCU, ACP, ARC, CCP, MCM, AIE, CIE) a plus
PMP, PMI-ACP certification or SAFe certified (or other scaled agile frameworks) a plus
