Job Description:


The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will be working with a new division of Integrated Care Professionals to provide high-quality behavioral and mental health services to residents in long-term care or assisted living facilities. This is a full-time position reporting to the Clinical Director for their state/area and in a collaborative practice agreement with a Psychiatrist. The Behavioral and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will have the ability to establish strong relationships with other ICP APRNs working in these settings along with the health care teams, residents and families in their specific facility. We are looking for the right person who will integrate well into the current care team of the facility and who has a passion for providing the most comprehensive behavioral mental health care to the growing elderly population.

Responsibilities of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Provide Initial behavioral and mental health assessments:

  • Assess cognitive deficits in the domains of attention, memory, and executive function.
  • Cognitive Assessments
  • Neuropsychological and neurocognitive assessment that assist in differential diagnosis, treatment planning
  • Pharmacology Assessment: Review of medications
  • Diagnostic Assessment of patients’ psychological functioning

Plans, implements, and evaluates the management of residents

  • Individualized and Customized Treatment Plans for cognitive behavior issues
  • Collaboration of Care with Consulting Psychiatrist, and/or Medical Director
  • Medication Management Plan: short term, long term
  • Medication Management Services
  • Coordination of Care to Reduce Risk and Foster Positive Outcomes to Decrease Hospital Re-Admissions for Gero-Psych Issues
  • Cognitive rehabilitation, such as development of cognitive skills that address strengths and deficits identified by neuropsychological assessment

Assists Director of Nursing (DON) or appointed nursing home liaison with identifying quality measures to improve quality of care for this special population of residents.

Performs and assumes responsibility for administrative functions pertinent to the APRN’s individual practice and role with ICP.

1. Obtains correct demographic and insurance information in a timely manner, abiding by company policies and protocols.

2. Maintains a home-based office with internet service to allow communication with corporate office.

3. Follows all ICP protocols. Use ICP documentation forms or EMR as instructed without modification or variation in practice.

4. Will work with ICP representative to pre-approve any expenses out of the normal required to perform their duties.

Assumes responsibility for own professional growth through continuing education and awareness of state laws and regulations

  • The APRN is to be responsible for obtaining all necessary CEU’s in order to keep licensure and certification current according to his/her state regulations and the regulations of the appropriate credentialing body. State certification, credentialing, and DEA must be maintained.
Required Experience:


Master’s degree-PMHNP from an accredited nursing program. Current registered nursing license in state the position is located. Appropriate registrations/approvals to practice as an APRN in assigned state. Must have prescriptive authority.

Prior APRN experience is required. Previous long-term care experience is desirable.

Demonstrates professionalism and is self-directed and highly organized.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, with nursing home partners, residents, family members, and physician collaborator.

Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.

Demonstrates time management skills (i.e., prioritization, timely follow-up, with other responsibilities and meets deadlines).

Basic Computer skills are a necessity. Willing to learn EMRs and software platforms required by company and nursing facility. Willing to learn telehealth technology.

Valid driver license is required. Reliable transportation and car insurance is necessary.

This is a travel position requiring extensive in-state travel. Candidates will need to be centrally located and willing to travel multiple times per week across multiple locations within Arkansas.

Strong problems solving skills and ability to work with integrated professional teams.
